On September 16th, Wiregrass RC&D proudly honored the 2024 grant recipients from Dale and Pike Counties with special ceremonies held in Ozark and Troy. These events recognized the outstanding contributions of local non-profits and government entities that have benefited from WRC&D’s grants this year.
In Dale County, recipients included the Dale County Cooperative Extension System, Ozark City Schools, G.W. Long High School FFA, South Dale Middle School, Level Plains Volunteer Fire Department, Newton Police Department, and the Boys & Girls Club of Ozark. Each organization received $5,000 to address essential needs such as acquiring new equipment for public safety and enhancing educational resources.
Similarly, in Pike County, the Goshen Volunteer Fire Department, Banks School, Healing Minds Body and Spirits Counseling Services, Common Ground Troy, Pike County Soil and Water Conservation District, Charles Henderson High School, Pike County Cooperative Extension, and the Troy University Arboretum Nature Trail were honored. They also received $5,000 each to support vital projects ranging from equipment purchases to community service improvements.
Ronnie Davis, Executive Director of WRC&D, emphasized the significance of these grants: “While the funding may not be vast, it often plays a crucial role in completing community projects and overcoming specific challenges.”
WRC&D is dedicated to supporting local communities by identifying their unique needs and fostering strong partnerships for sustainable growth. The success of these grants is made possible by the dedicated support of state legislators, including Senator Josh Carnley and Representatives Steve Clouse and Marcus Paramore, who were recognized for their ongoing commitment to community development.
