The Wiregrass RC&D team, along with its partners, is gearing up for the second Southeast Alabama Agricultural Career Expo, set to take place on April 17th at Landmark Park in Dothan. This event provides high school juniors from across the region with a hands-on opportunity to explore the many career paths available in agriculture.
The inaugural expo in 2024 welcomed more than 600 students from 30 high schools, engaging them with professionals in fields ranging from animal science and horticulture to cutting-edge agricultural technology like drones and robotics. The event aims to broaden students’ understanding of agriculture beyond traditional farming by introducing them to the business, science, and technical aspects of the industry.
Students rotate through interactive stations featuring hands-on experiences, live demonstrations, and networking opportunities with colleges, businesses, and agricultural professionals. The event is a collaborative effort between Wiregrass RC&D, the Alabama Extension Service, Landmark Park, and numerous local and regional partners, all working together to inspire the next generation of agricultural leaders.
Building on the success of last year’s event, the 2025 expo promises to offer even more opportunities for students to discover the diverse and innovative careers in agriculture. Stay tuned for more details as preparations continue for another impactful day of education and career exploration!
