The latest LEAD Wiregrass session, held at Troy University’s Idea Bank, brought together regional leaders for an impactful day focused on economic and community development.
Lynne George, Director of the Idea Bank, welcomed attendees before Nicki Hamm, LEAD Wiregrass Coordinator, provided updates on Wiregrass RC&D initiatives. Vince Perez of Southeast Gas then shared insights on regional economic growth strategies.
Following a networking break, Nisa Miranda and Candace Johnson from the University of Alabama’s Center for Economic Development discussed Alabama’s economic landscape and the role of tourism in community development.
Attendees enjoyed lunch from Rike’s Taco before afternoon sessions began. Laurie Chapman, Executive Director of the Elba Housing Authority, spoke on housing revitalization efforts, while Emily VanScyoc of SEARP&DC closed the event with strategies for regional development and funding opportunities.
